I honestly don't know where I would want to go. I've never been away from the west coast of the USA, so it's a bit scary thinking about ever going too far away. I admire your dedication and service to God. You are a blessing and a true inspiration.

I think God is calling my husband and me to Congo at some point in the future. I need to learn a bit of French first and perhaps some Lingala or Swahili.
I have often chuckled at those who contemplate giving their lives to Christ out of fear that the Lord will send them to Africa to serve as missionaries. I always chuckled smugly because I had no fear of God sending me to Africa. That was so obviously for other people, but not me. Ha!
But when I got married last year, I transferred membership to my husband's African church. We are both Caucasian Americans, but Terry has served as a deacon there and on the worship team as the bassist for almost 2 decades. So we both feel the call to serve in some way to Africa, especially Congo.
Before this African connection, however, I always had a heart for India. Until I met and married Terry, if you had asked, I would have thought India was a potential short term mission field destination for me. As a matter of fact, "India" is what caught my eye initially in your Facebook post.
Perhaps God will allow me to serve the Indian people in some way too. Some mission trips are very short and one-time; others are longer commitments to an area. Sometimes, God will send a missionary on many short term trips to a specific area over a period of years. Terry and I really only have partial clarity about our future in the mission field, but our desire is to always be exactly in the appointed place for the designated time according to God's direction, that his blessing is upon us in all that we do and bring him much pleasure and glory!
I am glad to know that you have enjoyed serving India. I am sure you inspire many as you greatly impact the world for Christ!

Sounds like you have a detailed idea of how you could contribute in Africa, Rhonda. The needs are great there. Chuck and I went to Uganda in 2009. Awesome trip. Stayed with the Nester family. If you're serious about going, I could pass your name and email along. Besides leading a church and teaching pastors, they host short termers, either individuals or groups. nesters4uganda@yahoo.com, I think. :)

If you're interested in testing the waters, I highly recommend a trip to Uganda to stay with the Nesters, a missionary couple who serve the local church and pastors. They also also short term missionaries, either individuals or groups. nesters4uganda@yahoo.com, I think.

It was so encouraging to read these comments about people's desire to serve Him locally and globally. I am an American missionary living in Croatia. I was very blessed by every comment here.
